The 2009-2010 Butler Bulldogs came within 3 inches of being the greatest story in the history of March Madness. Capturing the hearts of the nation, the 5-seed Bulldogs beat 1-seed Syracuse, 2-seed Kansas State, and 5-seed Michigan State to reach the National Title game.
Their hometown of Indianapolis played host to the David vs. Goliath battle against Duke for the National Championship. In a game for the ages Gordon Hayward's half court heave rimmed out as time expired giving the Blue Devils their 4th National Title. "When you think about the best stories in college basketball history, if that shot goes in, clearly, Butler goes straight to the top."
Butler would return to the Final Four and a repeat appearance in the National Championship game the following season etching a special place in March Madness history.
